Back from a wonderful three days hiking in Andalucia with Phil. Cannot recommend him enough. A thoroughly engaging guy with a wealth of local knowledge on culture, geology and history. The walks were a really good mix with each day having its own distinct character. The Arco del Sol where we stayed was a lovely family run hotel with a great menu. Phil picked us up each day and made sure each trip included a morning coffee stop to explain the walk and a tapas stop somewhere along the way. A great three days exploring places I doubt we would have found by ourselves.
Just back from a few days in Andalusia. The weather was perfect for walking and hiking but what made the trip great was the series of well planned walks with just the right amount of challenge - peppered with interesting features to explore and facts and history to bring the walks to life. Each day began with ease with door to hill/riverbed/town transport, a good amount of tapas to refuel en route and back to a charming and relaxed hotel where generous amounts of gin/cerveza readily flowed. Lovely to also be hosted by a fellow Bristolian . Most enjoyable 😊
It was very informative, especially about what is grown here, but unfortunately it ended up being a sales event where they said that the cocoa was from the plantation with no additives and the coffee was from here, while in the background there was supermarket packaging.
Super voucher for fruit tasting, then finished off in the river with very friendly people.
DON'T RISK YOUR LIFE!!! I wish I could upload the photos. DANGEROUS and poorly maintained vehicles. The first vehicle was squealing and broke down on way to the walk. The brakes failed on a hill on the replacement truck and we crashed in to a ditch.
To experience the beauty of the Andalucia region I'm sure you won't find better than this. The escorted walks took us to wonderful places we would not have found on our own, together with explanations about the landscape and nature that Phil provided. The welcomed bonus were the little coffee shops and tapas bars at the start and finish. We were looked after from arrival through to departure, and this was all delivered with Phil's care and jovial style.
Wow what an amazing experience! Phil was the absolute best tour guide that we could have wished for! Very organised, thoughtful and his detailed knowledge of the area made for an exceptional 3 days of walking - Winter Sun style! We came away feeling revived and refreshed and would highly recommend to anyone looking to book a walking holiday. We are already looking at booking with Phil again in a few months time!
